Franz Schubert went to Gmunden as part of his summer trip in 1825 with Johann Michael Vogl. Together they stayed at the house of Trawager which is located at Theatergasse 8 where there is a memorial plaque on the side. This Schubert bust was erected in 1926 by the Gmundner Männergesangverein (Gmunden Men's Choral Society). The bust faces the lake of Traun in its location.
